Considering Jürgen Habermas’ work in knowledge and human interests and Pierre Bourdieu’s habitus construction theory, some computing thecnology applications in education implications for knowledge construction are anlysed from the educational field. Enlightened by empirical evidence, we discuss here the possibility that the new educational technologies, increasingly dominated by computing and informatics, can be dominated by market necessities and restricted to the application of selected knowledge, jeopardizing knowledge development.
