Abstract

The application of new media to the field of higher education has produced a number of educational proposals, projects and institutional programs, crystallized in different kinds of “multimedia classrooms”. The Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Xochimilco recently started the operation of one of these techno-educational resources named Aula Multimedia UAM-Universia. This paper delivers an exercise of qualitative evaluation focused on the operational processes of this project, as a framework to understand the mutation of the classroom to a laboratory model, where research, experimentation, generation and propagation of information and knowledge take place through multimedia educational materials.
