Abstract

The historical development of the pedagogical theoria and practice, had been influencied for changes in technology of conservation and processing of information. At the begining, it was the orality, and from the Renaissance to our days, the printed book. Now, the computer and the global communications computer-based networks, are changing the contemporary university. The result is the virtual university or the hiperuniversity, based in the non-presencial learning. The new situation could be a threat for those latinoamerican universities, small and without financial resources. The amount of students in these institutions could be decreased, and also its importance as cultural institution. The author proposses some ideas to face this challenge, and change this threat in new opportunities for a future development of our universities.
