Los medios universitarios frente a la globalización de la cultura

This paper reviews the relationships which universities have with the media as useful technological resources. The historical background is examined, with an explanation of the role of the media in the transformation of cultural paradigms that have guided academic practices in the West. Universities have found themselves obliged to change to adjust to new conditions and pressures in their environment. The article concludes that change should be guided by reinforcement given to university extension programs—particularly continuing education programs, distance learning and cultural dissemination programs.
