Abstract

This essay is the result of an analysis of university issues and problems seen through the appealing lens of utopianism, as seggested by this journal. It examines the meeting points of education, globalization and technology from a utopian perspective. This study of eduaction amid globalization begins with an examination of the relationship between globalization and digital technology. The concept of “McDonaldization”, coined by George Ritzer (1996), is the springboard for a discussion of the effects of the global model on higher education.
