Abstract

The analysis of a data base that gathers information about Mexican faculty (3681 cases from 65 higher education institutions) tries to characterize the forms, contents and intensity of the links that academicians have with their colleagues; based on their answers this paper analyses: how, with what purposes, frequency and with whom they relate in their research practice and teaching tasks. The aim is to indicate which factors are correlated with the establishment of Networks among professors, and the relation between the existence of different kinds of networks and the papers published in different media subjected to strict arbitration standards and have wide national and international circulation.
