Abstract

This article emphasizes the role of research in construction of the Knowledge Society. Clarifying the distinction between Information Society and Knowledge Society means making explicit the assumptions about knowledge in today’s society. The article also clarifies some of the underlying assumptions in a discussion of the viability of the Knowledge Society.
