Abstract

The main purpose of this article is to analyze various concepts and definitions of quality, and the elements and dimensions which make up quality. These concepts have been proposed and utilized by a variety of stakeholders and institutions; international organizations, education research organizations, experts in the area and officials responsible for developing educational policy. The analysis also aims to examine the difficulties, limitations and potential for achieving increased quality levels in the context of education in Mexico. Although the author focuses mainly on the post-secondary level, education at pre-university levels and some general aspects of education are also treated.
