Abstract

As a result of the significant changes than the Higher Education System in Mexico has lived from the nineties, currently it is characterized by the institutional complexity and diversity of its academics and substantives functions, etc. In this process the private higher education has gained importance derived from its expansion. However, in the educative research it is a topic less studied. With the purpose of contributing of its analysis, in this work we analyze the problem of the higher education in Mexico. The work is divided in three sections. The first section analyzes the private higher education configuration, its participation in the national system of education and its trends. The second section describes the institutional design for the coordination of this sector and its framework regulatory. Finally, we propose some conclusions and outstanding research issues.
