Abstract

The journal Diseño y Sociedad was founded by the Theory and Analysis Department of the Division of Science and Art for Design. The first issue appeared in January 1991. The journal was created to contribute reflections on methodological, theoretical, historical, conceptual and analytical aspects and requirements of design. Its mission is to reflect on the societal nature of design, as noted in the introduction to the first issue, where the contribution of the majority of design disciplines was acknowledged. In contrast, at least in this country, the introduction stated, there is a lack of systematic, critical reflection on theoretical-methodological and historical issues and their societal determinants.
