This paper documents the meaningful entry in 2005 of non indigenous students into the Licenciatura en Educacion Indigena (LEI) at Universidad Pedagógica Nacional who didn’t meet the entry profile. This fact impacted in the improvised modification of the teaching practice from the advisors, the search of new teaching strategies and restructuring programs. Primary discussed here are the expectations of formation and work camp that non indigenous students had when they entered the program. One of the most noticeable aspects with the entry of the “mestizo” students, and that also propitious this work, was their exclusionary attitude towards indigenous students which was contradictory to the speech they expressed.
