Abstract

This paper is an update of a previous study of women academics in high positions in a Mexican state university. The article is a condensed version of a study of gender and administrative organization. The goal is to trace the careers of academics in upper administrative positions in the administration of the university. In 2001, approximately 12 percent of academics in upper administrative positions in the university studied were women. This small group of women may experience greater than normal competition every six years with the change of administration. The period investigated in this work is precisely the six-yearly change of the central administration in March-April, 1995 and March-April 2001.
