Abstract

Exams have long been important as evaluation instruments. This article analyzes how, since their incorporation into the educational setting, the practice and purpose of exams have been extended and distorted. Some alternatives are presented with a more applicative than reproductive focus, which may help recuperate the teaching function of exams in post-secondary education.
