Abstract

Access to information implies social change and advantages in all levels. Electronic transmission of information has acquired new dimensions in our days. Knowledge is a country's intellectual capital. A country's ability to build its information base and have access to remote sources of knowledge is a determining factor in its potential for development. Information is acumulative resource and it is essential for work. Productivity growth in every sector of the economy will increasingly rely on information management efficiency. In developed countries a great part of the work force has as its main task to collect, process and distribute information, supported by computer science. Information fast development and interdependence among several fields of knowledge pose complex problems for those designing development policies. Such is the case with information administration in the firm, whose process is described in this article.
