Abstract

In this work there is analyzed Georg Simmel’s academic career by means of an exploration of the nature of the academic field in the Germany of his time. On the one hand his institucional characteristics appear, by other one there is exposed the configuration of a species of dominant vision of what they had to be and do the social sciences and humanities inside the nacional German project. In this field, Simmel followed a typical course, neither in his academic practice nor in his intellectual production, so that only late and after several rejections it obtained the teacher’s position of career.
