Abstract

The crisis in public education, exacerbated by the current economic situation, has an impact on post-secondary students, calling into question the values, attitudes and goals that make up their very identity. This critical situation calls for a reflection on the creation of identity through singularity and authenticity, as expressed from a theoretical perspective by authors such as Luis Villoro. These identities will factor into projects designed by the students themselves, proposing alternative options. Creativity can develop insofar as congruence is established internally among aspects such as: 1. Individual desires and projected goals; 2. Authentic cultural elements that reflect the real issues facing our students, not extraneous issues imported from an imitative culture; 3. An individual self that is structured to be capable of constructing social action, building up the potential of the collective self; and 4. Real, valid, feasible alternatives consistent with the criteria, principles and opportunities proposed by Enrique Dussel in his work on the ethics of life and its propagation.
