La educación profesional y su papel en la formación en valores

Un acercamiento a la licenciatura en Ciencias de la Educación de la Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco

Abstract

Values education is increasingly necessary in institutions of higher education. Besides education in their discipline, university youth need to be educated to help them construct a framework of values that will support them when they come to exercise their profession independently so that they can do so with responsibility, honesty and a sense of justice, among other factors. This article presents preliminary results from the research project Formación disciplinaria y ejercicio profesional. Un acercamiento a partir de los valores [Education and professions: A value-based approach] conducted at the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco. The study population consisted of two graduating classes from the Bachelor of Science in Education program. In addition to values, other dimensions were investigated in order to learn about students’ beliefs and their relationships with their world, their country, their studies, religion, family, friends and themselves.
