Abstract

This article presents a brief history of undergraduate medical internship; including the problems and ambiguities that complicate the program. Starting from the second level of their program, medical students spend nearly all their time at the hospital, yet they are not employees but scholarship students. The article considers in what way the UAM-X internship program can be modified to overcome these inconsistencies.
