Abstract

Latin American societies have undergone tremendous changes in recent years, principally involving a consistent tendency towards increased democratization. As these societies pass through a series of stages, the role of social and political players has changed profoundly. New perspectives related to different settings are proposed for a clear understanding and transformation of the role of the university in contemporary society.
