Abstract

This essay discusses the importance of taking future trends into consideration when constructing a model of the public university for the twenty-first century. Three important challenges are examined; demography, sustainability and violence. The essay concludes with the proposal that the preferred alternative is university training based on a design incorporating intersecting axes.
