Abstract

In this paper, after recalling Latinoamerican University’s –propelled by students– origin and characteristics: it is postulated that university ethics directly depends upon its definition and ends; university’s conventional tasks are spotted and differentiated from substantive elements implying values and ethic compromise; several aspects of university institution’s ethics and duties, as different from individual’s ethics and their interactions are pointed out; some ethic questions that are proposed to students since their arrival to the university and the need to look after the process of value incorporation are analysed; the basic importance of reflections with ethic content and the commitment arising from the participation in university extension practices in the community space that undoubtedly have ethics in their roots are unveiled; it is sustained that these experiences –when associated with learning– humanize the student since they contribute to their integral training, on their part, students serve –as they learn– the community; some natural and cultural easy of professio¬nals’ ethic training as well as some teachers and researchers’ ethic aspects are commented; finally, the risks and negative practices of political parties’ intromission in university life are pin-pointed.
