In this paper, we report the results of an investigation on the training of education professionals at a public university. Students in their last semester in five different programs felt that the overall elements of university students’ ethics are created outside the university, and with the help of others. An analysis of the discourse of professionals recently graduated from the same programs showed that some of the overall elements of professional ethos are established in parallel education processes that take place outside the university. The study showed that they transition from immediate ethics to the definition of certain moral principles, and that the students do not establish a professional phronesis, whether in the university or in the heart of their reference group, that would enable them to equitably solve their professional problems.
