Dilemas éticos en la profesión académica contemporánea frente al marco dominante de reconocimientos a la productividad

In this paper is presented a reflection about some Mexican academic professionals’ ethic dilemmas, with special emphasis in those of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana. These dilemmas are related with the fulfillment of activities assumed as concerning the contemporary academic profession institutionally framed by the linking of academic productivity and access to economic rewards different than wages. The articulation between academic profession ethos’ conditionings, the reward systems and academic practices, helps to identify ethic dilemmas about academic research and teaching that may lead to re-thinking the academic role from a professional ethics horizon.
