Valores de los estudiantes universitarios. Un tema con muchas variaciones

Abstract

This paper deals with ethics and values as one of the principal issues in the development of professionals of the future. The results of an study using qualitative methods are presented. The study investigated the relationship between explicit values of the university program and values held by students at the culmination of their university studies. There was found to be considerable heterogeneity among values experienced through the university programs, and discrepancies were observed between these values and the stated values of the programs. This has led to discrepancies between desirable values and those which the students took on as personal commitments. The "ethic of convenience" was prevalent, and there was little sense of the profession as a service to society.
