The purpose of this project was to describe the facultymembers of the Ensenada School of Engineering at the UABC in terms of their qualifications and values, and to verify whether these characteristics were consistent with the educational goals, mission and institutional plan of the university. A descriptive study was carried out between August 2000 and November 2001. A questionnaire was designed and applied to a sample of 69 professors at the School of Engineering. The results indicated that the characteristics of the professors did not correspond to the theoretical profile of a university professor as specified by experts. There were also discrepancies with the educational objectives documented in the UABC mission statement and institutional plan.
